Bamboozled

I’ve got green finger nails again. And no, its not through gardening, even though it entailed getting my hands on large amounts of bamboo, its through painting and getting intimate with a Samurai. As you do. 🙂 The guy who has commissioned me to do this particular oil painting for him rang earlier to see how I was getting on, and excitedly told me that “he was like a cat on a hot tin roof” cos he was so looking forward to seeing the painting. I smiled at the thought, cos I know what its like, you want to see the picture, you can’t imagine exactly what its going to look like, but you have high expectations of it being all that you want of it. I hope I fulfill his expectations of it. I think I will though. Cos I’m loving the way its looking and am now just on the final few stages of pulling the whole picture together and putting the Samurai warrior in his bamboo setting. And its surprised me how much I’m enjoying doing the background of it. You’d think that bamboo is just straight up and down with a few leaves here and there, and it would be if I’d painted it like that, but changing the grouping of the planting, picking out some of the leaf shapes, and hinting at the thick density of bamboo growth in the forest behind him has been a fun challenge.  So, I should finish it for the client in the very near future, and as soon as its fully dry, he can take ownership of it. I know he’s busy looking for an appropriate Japanese style frame for it to show it off to its full Oriental extent.

But as well as that this week, I had the delivery of another oil painting to do, down in sunny Kent, that one being the one for Roger and Kathy – also an oil painting, but this one an erotic nude portrait of them both.  And they were both over the moon with their painting too, all big smiles and happy hugs. I like a success like that! There’s a lot to explain about that painting, so I’ll leave it til the next blog post to show you the working progress of it, and the finished result. They asked for a sensual, loving, erotic, tasteful painting, and that was exactly what I gave them. The oils were a perfect medium for the soft nuances of skin tones – I’m loving working in oils again!

It’s been a busy week all round, with taking work to exhibitions and bringing it back again. And to add to the positive and promotional power of my week I have been featured in on Erolife’s website with a full and well illustrated article about me and my erotic art. You can view it here on Erolife. So, it looks like September has started really well with good art for this month for me.

  1. Useful information. Lucky me I found your web site by accident, and I am stunned why this twist of fate did not happened in advance! I bookmarked it.
