Walk in the woods and tell me all your secrets

If you take a walk through the woods.. what do you see?

Your reply will tell me a lot.

Oh yeh! 🙂

Cos if you tell me that you see a lot of bloody trees and can’t wait to get out of them, I’ll know you’re a city dweller who hates getting mud splattered and can’t wait to get back to civilisation, lattes and Harvey Nicks.

If you tell me you see a lot of tree roots to trip over, I’ll know that you’re unsteady on your feet.        Or drunk.

If you tell me that you see the bright plumage of robins and pheasants then I know you’re interested in bird-watching.

If you tell me you see soft mossy glades full of fluttering  yellow butterflies in the warm sunshine with a tinkling stream nearby you’re a romantic.

If you tell me that you want to take your lover to lie with you in the soft mossy glades, you adore  the thrill of sex outdoors.

If you say that you see the play of light and shadow, then I’ll know that you’re a keen photographer.

If you say that you see mushrooms and nuts and crab apples ready to pick, I’ll know you’re a cook.

If you say that you see Quercus robur, Fagus sylvatica, Ilex aquifolium or Serbus aucuparia I’ll know that you’re either a keen gardener or a show-off who likes to spout Latin (or both).

If you tell me you can see the best place to make a shelter, skin a rabbit, be ambushed, you’re in the army.

If you tell me you can see the best place to bury a body, I’ll know to get out of the forest, as fast as I can.

If you tell me that you want to paint the back-light through the leaves of the trees, I’ll know you’re an artist.

And as an erotic artist, what do I see?      I see twisted tree roots that look like entwined lovers, I see the interplay of light and shadow, of hidden images in the shapes of the leaves and branches that have sexual undertones, I wow over the vibrant colours of the golden and bronze leaves of the autumnal foliage, and marvel at the vibrant celebration of rich red colours fading to every shade of purple.  In my minds eye I see naked people romping in the woods enjoying the freedoms of nature, and faerie folk dancing with light and love, and phallic branches reaching high to the sky. That’s what I see.

(And by the way, I know all of the people described above  in real life)

……well…….all of them except the ornithologist that is 🙂
