A leg end in a lifetime of colour

Unicorn (2)On quiet moments these last few days I’m considering what subject I shall paint for the Ashby Arts Festival outdoor board. The idea of a legend or myth means I’m leaning more towards the myth side of it, particularly the magical aspect – fairies, elves, goblins and trolls. I’m wondering whether to do something different to the usual (for me) mermaids or unicorns, or keep with what I know… No decisions have been made yet, I’m just playing with ideas as I’ve got a couple of weeks yet before I need to get my ideas on paper.

So on that thought this week I went to my local DIY Store to see what price range the sampDance of the deep (2)le match pots are as well as the likelihood of finding the right colours I might possibly need bearing in mind I don’t know what I’m going to be doing yet, and whereas there was every shade of Mongolia  no thats not right, I mean Magnolia paint with the alluring titles of  *hint of camels breath*, *sand in strange places* and *maidens water*,  or whatever fancy names they call  the pale paints, there wasn’t much choice in the red department or the orange really. But I ran through the rainbow, not literally that’s not possible well unless you can do it at the speed of light in the blink of an eye in which case I’ll have the pot of gold at the end of it too thankyouverymuch, of the colours Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet and was happy that the basis of the colours were there.  Having said that I might not need many match pots and they didn’t state how much square meterage they cover so I’m going to have to guess. And I’ll probably need black as well although I know that is not in the rainbow.

I could leave the whole thing white and call it “Pegasus in a cloud” or “White witch in fog”  or “Magus in mist” ….whatdjathink?! 🙂
