Linked up writing in the erotic style

I spend my life with the sort of people I feel comfortable with –  a lot of artists, writers and photographers, not in a rubbing along in a commune sort of way you understand, but in a periphery sort of way that is friendship, since I love chatting about creativity, the interaction of the human spirit that inspires them, what their passions are, how they create their work, and how they let the world know more about it.

So I’m really not sure if it exactly counted as a *business meeting* last night when a socal get together was arranged that involved erotic writers, photographers and me as an erotic artist!  Particularly when one of the writers was my friend Lucy Felthouse, who wanted to introduce me to one of the other writers who had complied a story in the anthology “Seducing the Myth* that I had been invited to paint the front cover for last year. Its always great to be in Lucy’s company and wonderful to meet another erotic author too, through her. He was accompanied by his lady friend who is a photographer, as is my boyfriend, and we are all bloggers. We hadn’t met before, so it was lovely over the course of the evening in a local pub with glass of chilled wine in hand to find out their passions, and interests, their inspirations, and how it is featured in their work both through the written word and through images, both erotic and more vanilla. It wasn’t a dry business meeting of course, how could it have been?! There was fun and  laughter, and banter mixed in with useful snippets of advice and suggestions, of  insights into each others worlds, and a nice relaxed night into the bargain. So, when the invite came to go back to their house for a coffee we accepted with alacrity, although Lucy (being an early bird) left at elevenish (early in my book!) leaving us late nighters to chat over coffee til 1 ish and find out more about each other through our backgrounds and general interests. I love it when I make connections like that, when the company is easy, the chat informative, funny, and relaxed, and you feel that your life has been enhanced just in the knowing of someone.

This morning I am back at my work, I’ve been concentrating solely on creating an erotic image involving colourful carnival masks (which I find very sexy) and have started the initial drawing involving a number of people (well, three) in an erotic set up, their faces showing what is happening, even with the masks covering part of them. I’m excited about how it will progress and am just finalising colours and abstract shapes to bring it all together. I’ve just had a delivery of watercolour paper and pads delivered, and when my friend called for a cuppa earlier he said as he said his goodbyes “I expect to see all of that covered in paintings next time I come !” to which I retorted “You’ll be lucky, there’s a lot of it there!” But, I shall start with the sexy carnival masks design and see what pictures I’ll create after that….
